Shelf Drilling jack-up rig has secured a contract for operations in Southeast Asia.
On December 8, 2023, Shelf Drilling announced a recent contract victory for its jack-up rig, the Shelf Drilling Perseverance. The rig has secured a new assignment with PetroVietnam Domestic Exploration Production Operating Company Limited (PVEP POC).
The contracted period spans approximately 16 months, with a total estimated value of around $73 million. Mobilization of the rig to Southeast Asia is anticipated to commence shortly, and operations with PVEP POC in Vietnam are scheduled to kick off in the third quarter of 2024.
Before this contract, the Shelf Drilling Perseverance jack-up rig successfully concluded its engagement with IOG in the UK in July 2023. Following this, the rig became available and was actively promoted for global opportunities. Constructed in 2008, the Shelf Drilling Perseverance adheres to the Friede & Goldman JU-2000E design, boasting the capacity to accommodate 118 personnel and operate in water depths of up to 400 feet. The rig’s maximum drilling depth capability is 30,000 feet.
This recent contract achievement follows Shelf Drilling’s securing of new agreements for two jack-up rigs dedicated to offshore operations in Nigeria. Additionally, the company confirmed a contract extension for another jack-up rig currently operating on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), solidifying its strategic positioning in the industry.
