Motor Hand
About the job
The Motorhand role is a safety-sensitive position responsible for operating and maintaining the rig’s diesel and electric engines, generators, and boiler systems. This includes performing routine maintenance, ordering parts, monitoring fuel and lubricants, and keeping accurate service logs. Motorhands also support crew training, supervision, and safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and repair rig engines, transmissions, generators, and hydraulic systems.
Monitor inventories and complete maintenance records.
Operate engines powering rig equipment and ensure safe operations.
Support, train, and assist other crew members as needed.
Follow safety standards and company procedures.
Skills & Requirements:
Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
Team-oriented with leadership and communication abilities.
Previous rig experience up to Motorhand level.
Valid certifications: H2S Alive, CSO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Rig Rescue.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Derrickhand

Location: Alberta, British Columbia & Saskatchewan
The Derrickhand is a safety-sensitive role responsible for working in the rig derrick, handling drilling pipe, and maintaining drilling fluid systems. This position plays a key role in supporting the Driller, overseeing circulation machinery, mixing chemicals, and ensuring safe and efficient rig operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Work up the rig derrick to guide and stack pipe during tripping.
Maintain drilling fluids, monitor circulation systems, and mix chemicals.
Assist Driller with equipment and mud system maintenance.
Ensure safe rig operations and compliance with company standards.
Skills & Requirements:
Previous rig experience up to and including Derrickhand.
Strong mechanical aptitude, teamwork, and communication skills.
Valid certifications: H2S Alive, CSO, First Aid Level C CPR, Confined Space, Fall Protection/Rescue, Loader Operator.
Must be 18+ with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
