About the job
Risk Assessment and Compliance Monitoring:
Monitor on a regular basis, the performance of contractors and obligations to clients, to ensure that HSE related terms and conditions are met and that there is compliance with company policies and procedures as well as that of clients and best practices.
Regularly monitor the work conducted by HSE Officers to check on progress and ensure that quality standards are being maintained to achieve set plans and objectives.
Monitor the extent of compliance with risk assessments programs in order to enforce the correct use of control measures and provide advice to HSE Officers on corrective action to be taken within scope of work and approvals.
Identify the controls required to reduce the risk as low as reasonably practicable considering the hierarchy of control.
Conduct sites visits as per the approved site visit schedule for safety inspections, discuss findings with the
PIC on-board, prepare/ and or review the reports with department management and issue upon approval.
Site Inspections:
Perform frequent safety inspections in work locations including rigs and offices to observe working conditions, equipment and employee behaviors and identify safety problems and make recommendations for corrective action.
Incident Investigations:
▪ Investigate or participate in joint investigations with concerned operations and or clients, to provide HSE technical input in support of incident investigation to determine incident cause.
▪ Prepare and review incident investigation reports and make SMART recommendation aimed at correcting or preventing recurrence.
▪ Generate HSE alerts for concerned managers to review and cascade lessons learned across the fleet.
Other Duties:
Perform related duties and responsibilities as may be delegated by the department management which may include but not limited to;
▪ Represent the department in any committee for specific matters.
▪ Review HSE in-house training materials and provide technical inputs to enhance its robustness/efficiency.
▪ Attend pre-tour and pre-job meetings during rig/ asset visits and provide inputs to enhance effectiveness.
▪ Attend seminars and workshops on company nomination as part of continued professional development (CPD) to further enhance HSE knowledge and competence.
▪ Conduct HSE inductions of new employees at head office during the absence of HSE Training Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent academic qualification in a Health, Safety and Environment related course. NEBOSH Diploma may be considered with minimum of five years’ hands-on experience in drilling.
▪ NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC)
Minimum Experience:
▪ Drilling rig HSE experience offshore minimum 7- 10 years – preferably HSE advisor to HSE supervisor role
▪ Preferable to have experience and knowledge of drilling & workover operations
▪ Demonstrate outstanding leadership and technical abilities and performance in current and prior functions and /or operational job assignments with offshore/onshore drilling companies.
▪ Candidate worked with major drilling companies or clients.
