Journeyman Machinists are responsible for setting up and operating precision metal cutting and grinding machines such as lathes, milling machines, drills, and grinders to make and repair products made from metals, such as oilfield rig machinery and mechanical equipment. The Journeyman Machinist is expected to act as a liaison to the Lead Hand to ensure that all products and projects are produced and completed in a high-quality and efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
- Machine rig equipment and mechanical components to precise engineering drawings and renderings using Alloy materials (4140,4145,4130, C1018, C1045) Plates (44W, 50W, QT100) Stainless (316, 304) Bronze (660) Aluminum, Plastic (Blue nylon, Black Nylon UHMW) and Structural Steel
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables or study sample parts to determine the machining operation to be performed and plan the best sequence of operations
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as threading, sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding, and other operations
Education:
- A High School Education or GED equivalent is required
- Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program in Millwrighting or Industrial Mechanics
