Responsibilities:

The Bosun will report to the Chief Mate and will be responsible for general deck maintenance, maintaining all life-saving and firefighting equipment, responsible for assisting the Chief Mate as needed.

The Bosun may:

• Supervise all AB Seaman
• Maintain ship’s gear and decks
• Perform assigned watch duties during rig moves
• Stow or remove cargo from ship’s cargo areas as necessary for maintenance
• Perform repairs and routine maintenance on ballast system, bulk transfer system and pump room equipment, safety equipment
• Paint and chip rust on deck or superstructure of ship
• Overhaul lifeboats and lifeboat gear and lower or raise lifeboats with winch or falls
• Break out, rig, overhaul, and stow cargo-handling gear, stationary rigging, and running gear as needed for jobs
• Take charge of emergency steering apparatus during rig moves
• Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs and in pre-tour weekly safety meetings
• Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
• Perform other duties as directed

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age
• Possess or able to obtain a valid Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential (TWIC). Any candidate selected for this position will not be allowed to begin work without a card in hand or proof from the TSA of a card “In Production” or “In Transit.” For more information, visit the TSA website
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
• Possess or able to obtain a valid passport
• Merchant Mariner’s Document (Z-card) with AB Unlimited Endorsement
• STCW Certification
• Possess a Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (RFPNW)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4 years of offshore or relevant industry experience
• 4 years as Able Bodied Seaman on an offshore drilling rig or offshore vessel
• Previous experience working on a drilling vessel
• Previous experience with Safe Helicopter Operations
• Knowledge of Fast Rescue Crafts or Fast Rescue Boats
• Experience with hose fitting and paint procedures
• Experience operating a mechanical winch
• Possess High School Diploma/GED or higher
