Job Description
The Rig Mechanic reports to the Chief Engineer for the operational maintenance and repair of the MODU’s mechanical equipment to include drilling equipment and deck cranes. Duties can also include repair of 3rd Party equipment with operational dependency.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities
Maintenance and repair of the MODU’s mechanical, hydraulic and, pneumatic systems, including deck cranes.
Carry out periodic maintenance in accordance with Planned Maintenance System guidelines and OEM recommendations.
Ensure that service, maintenance and other operational reports are accurate and complete to satisfy Regulatory and Company policy / Procedures.
Adhere to Company Permit to Work system policies and procedures. Develop job specific JSA’s pertaining to those areas of mechanical maintenance and repair responsibilities.
Maintain the worksites in a clean and safe condition and ensure personal protective equipment is properly maintained and cared for.
Mechanics Workshop , tools and equipment should be organized and maintained in clean and safe condition.
Perform machine work as required.
Maintain adequate supply of spare parts in order to fulfill maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation.
Communicate effectively and provide mentoring to Assistant Rig Mechanic.
Complete other duties and/or projects as required and assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education / Training: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Preferably 3-5 years working in an offshore MODU environment.
Skills: Capable of good decision making. Effective oral and written communication.
Decision Making: Must be able to troubleshoot, identify and respond to abnormal operating conditions and/or patterns.
